ATM FRAUD

Date: 27-10-2016                                             by email and posted on website of RBI

To,
Chief General Manager
Consumer Education and Protection Department
Reserve Bank of India
1st Floor, Amar Building, Sir P.M. Road, Mumbai-400 001

Respected Sir,

Subject: Suggestion for Safety of ATM Transactions

This bears reference to recent massive cyber attack/data breach in banking system mainly ATMs of premier banks. Huge amount has been defrauded at ATMs. I had made suggestion as per my attached letter dated 19-04-2015 [reminded on 01-03-2016 and 10-07-2016]. I hope suggestion, if it would have been implemented by RBI/NPCI , could have saved crores of rupees of customers using ATMs. Now most of premier banks will force customers to approach consumer fora and wait for years to get back amount defrauded. I am sure RBI and NPCI are still studying my suggestion and hope it will be implemented in near future for safety of ATM transactions. This may kindly be treated as THIRD reminder in the interest of public.
Yours faithfully,
J P Shah

RTI ACTIVIST IN MUMBAI SHOT DEAD

It is advisable to obtain from his family members RTI applications filed by him which lead to killing and post on social media and email to at least 25 RTI activists all over India from different States, with a request to file similar RTIs to same public authority and on receipt of information, upload on social media and by emails to activists. Thus next time killers of RTI activists will think twice, as information will be made public on social media sooner or later. Let us not expect govt to take initiative to ensure that in case of murder or physical harm to RTI applicants, information should be uploaded on website of public authority and SIC/CIC. Majority politicians and senior bureaucrats are hand in glow with such antisocial elements.

NEW WEBSITE OF CIC

To, Secretary CIC                                       Date: 14-10-2016
Further to my feedback dated 07-10-2016 posted on new website, I bring to your kind notice that in new website, decisions get downloaded when “view pdf” is clicked. Thus all decisions are required to be necessarily downloaded by visitor. In old website, there was option of downloading or not after perusing decision. My additional suggestion would be to continue to provide option to visitor to download or not [only read] after  opening decision. Downloading requires time and cost to visitors.

NEW WEBSITE OF CIC

To, Secretary CIC                                       07-10-2016

Thanks for refurbishing website of CIC.

However new decisions from 03-09-2016 uploaded at http://164.100.161.46/cicapp/cause-list-report-web/view-decision do not contain name of public authority. It contains interalia address of appellant/complainant which is not of much use to common visitor of website for decisions. Old website also mentioned name of public authority in addition to name of appellant /complainant.  I could not locate recent decision [may be between 03-10-2016 to 05-010-2016] of Hon’ble M Shridhar Acharyulu, IC against University Grant Commission, which has appeared in print media, since it involved downloading all decisions between above dates. This is cumbersome for public. I suggest that instead of address please include name of public authority for easy access, which is one of the main purposes of RTI.
